Who is it for?
These and other assessment agencies help immigrants obtain recognition for the education they received in other countries. Assessments from WES, IQAS and other members of the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) are widely accepted proofs of education standards by education deliverers across Canada.
How long does it take?
- Assessments from IQAS require a minimum of 10 weeks process time once they receive transcripts.
- Assessments from WES require a minimum of 7 days once they receive transcripts. Rush 3-day service is available at an additional fee.
Processing times are subject to change and should be confirmed by the assessment agency directly.
How much does it cost?
WES fees: $100 - $200 IQAS fees: $100 (Basic Assessment)
What is the basis of the assessment process?
Official documentation Assessment agencies generally require original and/or officially certified documents to conduct assessments. IQAS will accept photocopies, but it will be clearly indicated on assessment certificates that the evaluation was based on photocopied documents.
Document Review All documents are reviewed for consistency and any evidence of tampering or alteration. If there are any inconsistencies, the agency will seek verification on the suspicious documents directly from the issuing institutions. An evaluation will not be conducted on documentation determined to be altered or fraudulent.
Translation Review IQAS conducts educational assessments using original language documents and their English translations. Translations are spot checked for accuracy. WES requires word-for-word English translations of all documents to be submitted with the originals.
