| Next Steps for Broker Awareness Campaign |
|
Driven by Nadeem Jiwa, the AMBA team is entering the third year of its Broker Awareness Campaign, and judging by the increase in use of mortgage brokers by first-time buyers in Alberta (a 26% jump since 2007 and a 9% jump in 2009), the increase in visits to the AMBA website (1000% jump in 2009) and
the Facebook activity, it is working!
Consumers are more aware of what we do; now let’s show them that we are the experts at what we do! |
| AMBA will be ramping up our presence on social media such as Facebook and Google. We will be conducting three educational webinars in 2010, advertised through Facebook and our e-newsletters. These webinars will cover topics that are of significance to the consumer and will be hosted by industry experts.
We will be improving the e-newsletter with more information that is relevant to your day-to-day business. It will keep you up-to-date on topics such as industry news, events and educational seminars. You will be able to purchase advertising space on the e-newsletter.
With the rewrite of the Mortgage Agents Program (MAP), continuing broker education, and continuing consumer education, we are not only increasing the public’s awareness of mortgage brokers, we are enhancing the public’s image of mortgage brokers. What an amazing time to be a mortgage broker in Alberta. 2010 here we come! |
| Making a Christmas Difference |
|
As a result of AMBA's Annual Christmas Luncheon, we were able to help feed some hungry families this Christmas season!
AMBA was once again able to donate a cheque to the Calgary Food Bank this year to help feed some of our city's hungry. Executive Director Judy Martin and Events Director William Charleton were both on hand at the CBC Wildrose Radio Show to present the donation of $600, and to say a few words about AMBA and what the mortgage industry is about on the radio show.
AMBA staff decided to forego exchanging office gifts this year in order to donate those gifts to the Mustard Seed Street Ministry. Each staff member filled a Christmas goodie bag with items for men, women, kids and families living on the streets or in need of our support. We rounded up our families too and made a trip down to the Mustard Seed to present our gifts and take a tour of the facility.
AMBA staff and our families have a new appreciation and a better understanding of easily a person's luck can turn, what it means to be living on the street, what the Mustard Seed is doing to help, and what we, as the community, can do. Let's remember all those are less fortunate than we this Christmas season.
