
AMBA relies on a group of dedicated and passionate mortgage industry volunteers to get involved in board leadership – these individuals are collectively known as the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors ensure effective decision-making, monitoring, and sustainability of the association.
This year, AMBA's Board of Directors Election will take place between February 8 and May 4.
For the 2023-2024 Board term, we have four open Board positions consisting of:
Once elected, Directors can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.
Please note, in accordance with AMBA's Bylaws, candidates must be a member of AMBA for a minimum of one (1) year in order to be eligible to run for the Board.

- - One two-year term (this shortened term is due to a Director stepping down in 2022).

2023 Board of Directors Elections Schedule
Nomination Phase: February 8 - March 10
During this period, potential candidates can submit their nomination forms online. Members are also able to nominate other members should they choose. A member who has been nominated by another member has the option to decline the nomination.
Voting Phase: March 20 - April 14 at 12 noon
All members will receive a unique voting code and link, and can cast one vote per open Director seat. There are four open seats, meaning that each member will have the opportunity to cast four votes. AMBA uses a secure, third-party voting platform to protect the integrity of the election process. Voting will close at 12 noon on April 14.
Results & Swearing-in Phase: April 14 - May 4
Once voting has concluded, results will be complied and all candidates will be notified of the results on the afternoon of April 14.
2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM): May 4
Newly elected Directors will be sworn in at the 2023 AGM, which takes place in Calgary on May 4.
Electing the Officers of the Board: May 4
In a meeting just prior to the AGM, the new Board of Directors will meet to elect the officers of the Board. The officers will be announced during the swearing-in at the AGM.
Post-AGM Dinner: May 4
On the evening of the AGM, outgoing Directors and the newly sworn-in Directors will attend a dinner. The dinner is a valuable opportunity for outgoing Directors to share their experiences and offer advice to the new Board, and for new Directors to ask questions of the outgoing Directors.
Director Orientation & Training: May 5
AMBA is committed to ensuring that new and returning directors are provided with the resources and tools needed to set them up for a successful board term. As such, on May 5, all directors will attend a mandatory full-day orientation and training session, facilitated by AMBA's governance advisors.
Please note, as part of AMBA's Director Compensation Policy, Directors who are travelling from out of town to attend the AGM, dinner and orientation will be reimbursed for travel, meals and accommodations.
