I’m interested in continuing as a Board Director with AMBA because I genuinely care about the direction of our industry and the role AMBA plays in supporting it. Over the past two years on the board, I’ve seen firsthand the impact the association has on advocacy, education, and raising the standard for mortgage professionals across Alberta, and I want to continue contributing to that work.
In my role as Treasurer and Chair of the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee, I’ve been closely involved in financial oversight, budgeting, and supporting sound governance. My background in accounting as a CPA allows me to bring a strong financial lens to board discussions, while my experience as a mortgage broker and business owner keeps me grounded in what members are dealing with day to day.
I also bring an operational and collaborative mindset. As Co-Owner and COO of Flare Mortgage Group, I focus on building efficient systems, supporting team growth, and creating structure that allows people to perform at a high level. I carry that same approach into my work with AMBA, where I value thoughtful discussion, accountability, and making decisions that serve the long-term interests of the association.
I believe I’m a strong candidate because I’m committed, prepared, and invested in doing the work. I’m not just interested in being part of the board, I want to continue helping move AMBA forward in a way that supports both our members and the future of the industry.
Sherri Bureyko
I am pleased to put my name forward for election to the Board of Directors of the Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association.
I became a licensed mortgage broker in 2023 and currently work with the Spire Mortgage Team in Calgary under the mentorship of Renee Huse. In that time, I have developed a deep respect for the work mortgage professionals do and the important role we play in helping Canadians navigate one of the most significant financial decisions of their lives. I am seeking a position on the Board because I believe strongly in supporting and strengthening our profession in Alberta.
Prior to entering the mortgage industry, I spent more than 25 years in administrative management and governance-related roles.
My experience includes working with public sector organizations such as CMHC and Ontario’s Local Health Integration Networks, as well as supporting municipalities across Alberta as an independent contractor. I also served as a Returning Officer for Rocky View County, where I gained direct experience in governance, accountability, and the importance of transparent and well-structured decision-making processes.
Community service has also been an important part of my background. I was a founding member and treasurer of Friends of Animals Welfare Network (FAWN), a non-profit organization in Thunder Bay dedicated to animal welfare. FAWN supported spay and neuter initiatives, raised funds for veterinary care, and provided food and supplies to families facing hardship, including during the 2013 Thunder Bay flood.
In addition, I owned and operated an incorporated small business for eight years, giving me a strong appreciation for the realities faced by entrepreneurs working within regulated industries.
Through these experiences, I have developed a practical understanding of governance, collaboration, and responsible leadership. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute these skills to the AMBA Board and help strengthen a professional, trusted, and respected mortgage brokering community in Alberta.
Jordan D’Haese
I am seeking election to the Board of Directors of the Alberta Mortgage Brokers
Association because I want to give back to the industry that has fundamentally shaped my career. I became a licensed Mortgage Broker at the age of 18, for the past 24 years, this
profession has provided me with opportunity, challenge, and a strong appreciation for the
role Mortgage Brokers play in Alberta’s housing market. Serving on the AMBA Board is a
meaningful way for me to contribute to the continued strength and professionalism of our industry.
Throughout my career, I have worked through multiple market cycles, including periods of rapid growth, economic downturns, tightening credit, and significant regulatory change. These experiences have given me a practical, long-term perspective and a clear understanding of how changing market conditions impact brokers, lenders, and consumers. Having entered this profession at a young age, these years of experience allow me to bring a voice to the Board that is both seasoned and forward-looking.
In my current role as Vice President and Broker of Record with Jayman Financial, I oversee operations and client services in both Calgary and Edmonton, providing direct insight into Alberta’s two largest mortgage markets. In addition, my involvement with Jayman BUILT offers a unique perspective on new housing development, affordability challenges, and the future supply of housing in Alberta.
I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mount Royal University and have completed leadership training through the Haskayne School of Business, Dale Carnegie, and Crestcom. Outside of work, my life is centered around my family and I enjoy staying active as a sports enthusiast and avid golfer.
If elected, I would bring an experienced, collaborative, and thoughtful approach to the AMBA Board. With a strong focus on supporting brokers, I am passionate about advancing our industry for the future.
Ashleigh Holtman
I want to be a Board Director with AMBA because I genuinely care about the direction of our industry and the people in it. This industry has given me so much, and I see this as an opportunity to give back in a meaningful way.
I’m in a unique position where I’m actively building a growing team, working closely with both experienced brokers and those who are brand new to the industry. That gives me a real-time view of the challenges, gaps, and opportunities that exist at all levels. I understand how important it is to create strong support systems, accessible education, and a sense of community, especially for newer brokers trying to find their footing.
From a business perspective, I’ve scaled quickly, built strong lender relationships, and consistently stayed engaged with market changes. I’m also very focused on communication and bringing people together, whether that’s through team leadership, social media, or industry events. I’m not afraid to speak up, share ideas, and push for improvements that benefit both brokers and the clients we serve.
I believe I would be a strong candidate because I bring a combination of energy, fresh perspective, and hands-on experience in today’s market. I’m invested in the long-term success of this industry and want to help ensure AMBA continues to evolve, support its members, and represent brokers in the best way possible.
Lyndsey Krepela
I have had an assorted career spanning 20 yrs in the mortgage industry including working at a branch of BMO, CMHC as both an underwriter and in market analysis, Canada Guaranty as an Account Manager, First National as a BDM and now in the broker channel as an Area Vice President for TMG. With my varied background as well as now working directly with brokers I feel that I can bring an array of experience as well as support for the broker voice in today’s current market.
Samash Sandhu
AMBA serves as a powerful voice for our profession, and I believe it is essential that brokers and agents continue to have strong representation and advocacy. I want to be an AMBA Board of Director because I am deeply committed to supporting and strengthening Alberta’s mortgage broker community. I want to contribute my experience and perspective to help ensure our industry remains respected, competitive, and well supported.
Since entering the industry, I have witnessed firsthand the vital role mortgage professionals play in helping Canadians achieve the goal of homeownership and navigate increasingly complex financial decisions. Throughout my career as a mortgage professional, I have developed a strong foundation in client advocacy, problem-solving, and relationship building. These skills have allowed me to guide clients through complex mortgage scenarios while collaborating effectively with lenders, partners, and industry professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
I stay actively engaged with industry developments and regulatory changes that impact our work, and I believe ongoing education, collaboration, and strong leadership are key to moving our profession forward. Supporting fellow brokers and fostering a united industry are priorities that matter deeply to me.
My top priorities have not changed since my last election campaign and I hope to help drive initiatives that support both new and experienced professionals by listening to the concerns and ideas of fellow brokers. If elected, I will focus on strengthening AMBA’s advocacy efforts, expanding meaningful professional development opportunities, and encouraging greater engagement across our mortgage community.
Renee Stribbell
I have spent over two decades in the mortgage industry, and I can say with complete honesty that this industry has shaped who I am, both as a professional and as a person.
I started as a broker in 2003. I built a brokerage. I experienced the kind of success that looks great from the outside and the kind of burnout that quietly dismantles you from within. What pulled me through was community, mentorship, and a deep belief that this industry is worth fighting for.
That is exactly why I want to serve on the AMBA Board of Directors.I bring a perspective that sits at the intersection of frontline brokering, leadership development, and industry advocacy. I have spent years mentoring brokers across Alberta and BC, helping them build businesses that are sustainable, not just successful. I understand the pressures our brokers face because I have lived them, and I understand what it takes to lead through uncertainty with clarity and calm.
What I offer the Board is not just experience. It is a genuine commitment to the people behind the numbers. I care about the culture of this industry. I care about how we support newer brokers, how we elevate professional standards, and how we position ourselves as trusted leaders in the communities we serve. I also bring skills in strategic thinking, communication, and building systems that actually work for real people in real businesses.
The mortgage industry gave me a foundation. AMBA helped shape the professional I became. Serving on this Board is my opportunity to give that back with intention, with care, and with everything I have learned along the way. I would be honoured to serve as a director on the AMBA board.
Bonnie Trombetta
I’ve been a Mortgage Broker for 16 years, working directly with clients, lenders, and industry partners every single day. I understand the real challenges brokers face — from regulatory changes and market volatility to the constant need for better education, technology, and support. I don’t just see these challenges; I live them. And I believe that real-world perspective matters at the board table.
I’m not running for the Board because it sounds good — I’m running because our industry deserves strong, fearless leadership. (Although… let’s be honest, it does sound a little good.) Over the past year I stepped into the AMBA world by joining the Political Action Committee, and it lit a bit of a fire in me. Getting to know the current and past Board members — a pretty impressive group of Alberta humans — made me want to step up and contribute in a bigger way. I bring energy, authenticity, and a genuine passion for this profession.
I’m not afraid of tough conversations — after all, I explain mortgage penalties for a living, and if you can survive that discussion with a client, you can pretty much handle anything. I care deeply about our industry and the brokers who make it great. I’d be proud to represent you, and I would truly appreciate your vote.

Serving as a Director and current Chair for AMBA has been a profoundly rewarding chapter of my career. With my hands-on experience across Governance, Audit/Finance/Risk, and Political Action committees, I have developed a 360-degree understanding of our association’s inner workings.
During my tenure, we have successfully expanded our membership base, celebrated AMBA’s 50th Anniversary, and elevated our profile on both provincial and national stages. By championing proactive advocacy, we have solidified AMBA’s reputation as a premier leader in the mortgage industry. I am seeking your support for another term to continue this work, ensuring that every Albertan and every industry professional looks to AMBA as the gold standard for mortgage knowledge and leadership.
Jonathan Nameth
My name is Jonathan Nameth, and I’m honoured to accept the nomination for the AMBA Board of Directors. Throughout my career bridging the insurance and mortgage industries, what has mattered most to me is building meaningful, lasting relationships.
In my role as Senior Business Development Manager at Sharp Insurance, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with mortgage brokers across Canada, including many AMBA members. These relationships have given me a strong appreciation for the day-to-day realities brokers face, and they’ve inspired me to lead initiatives like the Brokers Choice Program. With the support of my team, this program has helped over 1,200 brokers add value to their client offerings. The success of this program has always been rooted in trust, collaboration and finding practical ways to support others.
I also bring eight years of Board experience as a Director and Vice Chair with the Calgary Corporate Challenge (CCC). My time with CCC taught me the value of listening, thoughtful discussion and working collaboratively to make well-informed decisions. I found great satisfaction in bringing people together and contributing to a positive, productive Board environment.
I am strongly aligned with AMBA’s strategic direction and the role it plays in supporting its members. I’m committed to showing up with integrity, openness, and a genuine willingness to contribute. If elected, I would be proud to support AMBA’s initiatives, advocate for its members and continue building strong connections within the community. Thank you for your consideration, and I humbly ask for your vote.
