AMBA Town Hall Meeting
The Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association has heard many concerns regarding the Real Estate Council of Alberta’s (RECA) proposed changes to regulations in the province, and we will be holding a Town Hall of our own on April 11, 2018, in order to address our intentions and offer some insight into the process so far and going forward.
AMBA and Mortgage Professionals Canada (MPC) board representatives took in both of RECA’s recent Town Halls in Calgary and Edmonton in order to help formulate our association’s strategy, and we are collaborating with our partners at MPC as well as listening to our valued members' voices.
RECA opened consultation for the proposed rule changes in February in The Regulator newsletter.
The proposed changes ("draft forms") relate to:
- Disclosures of material risk and product suitability to consumers
- Removal of the intermediary relationship option
- Document and information verification: Mortgage Fraud
- Private Lending procedures
We will be submitting a formal paper in response to RECA’s request for feedback prior to May 8, 2018. We also strongly encourage all of our individual members to offer their thoughts via the online survey prior to the deadline.
Be Heard: This is your chance to help shape the industry's future.
Please join us in Red Deer on April 11 to continue our important dialogue and help shape the future of our industry in Alberta.
Date: April 11, 2018
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
