The Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association ("AMBA") is an association dedicated to being the Brokers Voice and Consumers Choice. This Policy Statement has been prepared to affirm our commitment to maintaining the privacy of our members and others and to inform you of our practices concerning the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information provided to AMBA.

What is Personal Information?

According to the current law, personal information ("Personal Information") is defined as information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title or business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization, when used for business communications.

Collection of Personal Information

AMBA undertakes to collect your information by means that are fair, legal, and transparent. Personal information collected by AMBA may include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • Your home and / or work address
  • Your credit card information is collected by a third party ssl (secure sockets layer) site for processing

Use of Personal Information

AMBA collects personal information in order to:

  • Process purchases;
  • Manage registrations for AMBA Conferences, career development opportunities, and events;
  • Manage membership;
  • Disseminate information regarding AMBA or industry events;
  • Disseminate information regarding AMBA programs and services, and;
  • Provide members with information and benefits associated with membership.

Any other use of personal information will be subsequently agreed upon by AMBA and the relevant parties.

Disclosure of Personal Information

AMBA employees and its agents may access the information as is necessary to provide the services and opportunities as outlined in this policy.

Profiles or web accounts created by members or non-members on the AMBA website may be viewed by that member or non-member, member of the public and the AMBA for administrative purposes.

Credit card information is collected and processed by a third party ssl (secure sockets layer) site which has been chosen by the AMBA for its security and professionalism or by AMBA accounting staff through the same online system. However, as the AMBA does not control this site, we would encourage you to review their individual privacy policy.

Personal information will not be disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual; however, in some instances, we may be required by law, professional obligations, or regulatory requirements to collect, use, or disclose information about you without your knowledge or consent.

Security of Personal Information

AMBA undertakes to store your information in a manner that ensures security against unauthorized access, alteration or deletion, at a level commensurate with its sensitivity.

AMBA periodically reviews information which is no longer required to be maintained and destroys said information.

Credit card information disclosed/provided on AMBA's website during a transaction is not retained by AMBA. Credit card information provided to AMBA staff for manual entry of a transaction is not retained.

Please note that any unprotected email communication via the Internet is subject to possible loss, interception, or alteration. Consequently, we cannot and are not responsible for any damages you may suffer if you transmit personal information to us via the Internet.

We provide links to other web sites. As AMBA does not control these sites, we would encourage you to review their individual privacy policies.

Changes to Privacy Policy

AMBA reserves the right to change our Privacy Policy at any time by posting a new Privacy Policy on our website. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be effective from the time they are posted. This Privacy Policy was last updated on August 22, 2012.
