AMBA’s governance system is defined in its foundational documents. The Board’s authority is drawn from these documents.
- AMBA is not-for-profit corporation and is regulated by the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta
- AMBA’s Certificate of Incorporation describe the general aims and objectives of the corporation and the ownership structure
- AMBA’s Bylaws describe how the activities and affairs of the corporation are to be transacted. They address corporate matters such as categories, powers and conditions of membership, authorities and terms of directors and officers, meetings of directors and members meetings.
- AMBA’s Governance Policies describe the Board’s preferred and agreed manner of conducting Board business
- AMBA’s relationship to the real estate sector is key. An understanding of the Real Estate Act of Alberta is also useful.
